Find how they can contribute to its development and implementation, but depending upon employees’ specific responsibilities, employers must provide them with training that relates to cannabis operations conducted at their worksites.

  • Module 3 - Cannabis Safety Programs

The cannabis industry is considered a “moderate hazard” workplace by government safety regulatory agencies and administrations, but real hazards exist in the form of pesticides, electricity and, slips, trips and falls. You will learn the first step to implement a successful and compliant safety program is to educate everyone in the workplace on the applicable rules and regulations. You must understand what it takes to implement a cannabis industry safety and health compliance program is knowing which specific regulations need to be included.

  • Module 4 - Active Shooter

Almost every day, you hear about an active shooter when a cannabis location is robbed. Since the cannabis industry produces a valuable commodity, knowing how to react is key to avoiding a frightening and unpredictable situation. The cost to owners and insurance companies is substantial in financial losses, not even counting the loss to business revenues that may occur from adverse publicity. More alarming is the growing trend in violence during these times, which in some cases have led to employees and customers being injured.

  • Module 5 - Bloodborne Pathogens

Bloodborne pathogens are infectious micro-organisms in human blood that can cause disease in humans. And gloves, protective clothing and eye protection can prevent worker injury.

The potential for these same-level incidents exists when unintended or unexpected changes occur between the feet and the walking surface. Discover different examples, including items blocking pathways, loose mats, and wet walking surfaces. Slip, trip, and fall hazards can come in many forms, for example, a cannabis cultivator may encounter a slip hazard while conducting their work if the crops have been watered recently.

This translates to hazards in many forms such as temporary wiring (ex. extension cords), missing breakers, blocked electrical panels, improperly wired units, electricity use in high humidity and watering areas, improper repairs, unguarded fans, overloaded circuits, inadequate wiring, lack of training and electrical safety. Beyond these electrical hazards listed in their routine operational states, employers are further required to protect from hazardous energy sources on equipment.
